Taking Care of Winter Skin

Winter is here and with it comes the colder weather and indoor heating, which can dry out and deplete our skin. I want to share some tips to get through the Winter season and retain your beautiful, healthy, hydrated skin.

Please, please, if you’re still washing your face with hot water in the shower, stop this habit now. I tell all my clients to treat their face with love by cleansing over the bathroom sink with cold to tepid water. The use of hot water on the face overtime will increase the blood in the capillaries (tiny blood vessels underneath the skin) causing increased redness due to enlarged or broken capillaries. It will also break down the skin’s natural barrier and increase sensitivity by over stripping the skin. All of these side effects can be avoided by simply washing your face in the sink with cool water!

My best moisture tip is to “flood” the skin after cleansing. Flooding the skin is a layering technique used by estheticians after a facial. The best one for home use is, cleanse, then apply a hydrating serum, apply a moisturizer, then a few drops of facial oil, apply SPF, BB Tint or makeup. These simple steps of flooding the skin will keep your skin moisturized and hydrated throughout the day. You can also repeat the process at night depending on your skin’s need for moisture.

Here’s my tips for your body’s skin which can also suffer through dryness in the winter. Dry brushing your body before your shower is a great way to exfoliate and stimulate the skin’s renewal process. Using body oil such as jojoba or almond in or after a shower or bath, is a great way to really saturate your skin with moisture. Don’t forget all over body moisturizer as well. Sometimes in Winter because we’re not showing our skin off like we do in the Summer we can be neglectful and suffer dry and depleted skin.

Remember the skin is our largest organ in the body, so let’s be more thoughtful and connected to our skin. We will definitely reap the benefits of healthier, glowing skin all year round.

My Healing Journey

It all begins with an idea.

My healing journey began about 14years ago when I went through a very traumatic divorce. Everything felt brand new to me, like who am I, what am I doing in the world, and how do I begin to reinvent myself? As I look back at that time in my life it felt pretty hopeless, however something larger than myself kept urging me to move forward.

The journey began! I started reading books on self-help and spirituality, signing up for classes at a metaphysical store in town, I devoured anything spiritual in nature. My circle of friends and community started to blossom. My intuitive sense told me there was so much more healing and wisdom to attain.

As I write this today, my healing journey is ongoing, and may be for the rest of my time on the planet. However, as I look back on my path, I realize I became the person who I was supposed to be and have an understanding of what my soul purpose is for my life -SERVICE.

While I continue my own healing journey, I am here to serve you on yours. Over time I began to open the gifts of energy healing by becoming a Reiki practitioner. I have also been certified in Oneness Blessing, sacred geometry healing, crystal energy healing, Tibetan singing bowls, and my latest addition is sound healing with crystal singing bowls. I also facilitate a drum circle, which is a beautiful way to create your own healing medicine in community.

We live in a 3D world that is full of fear and density and can be very tricky to navigate. People, now more than ever, are looking for ways to heal and create more harmony in their lives. Energy healing is a very impactful way to do just that. When we are open, present, and grounded, we can begin to align with the higher part of self, or soul. Alignment with the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual bodies can bring us into higher states of consciousness which assists us and the collective in our highest evolution.

There are so many blessings that come along with healing service, and I am endlessly grateful to share these gifts with you.
